Calligraphy and Design is a partnership established over thirty years ago, specialising in the field of calligraphy and lettering together with associated skills such as heraldry, book design and illustration, gilding, glass engraving and web design.
The Society, based in the UK, is one of the most well-established and respected calligraphy societies in the world. The Letter Exchange, founded in 1988, is a society for professionals involved in the whole spectrum of the lettering arts and crafts, from calligraphy and letter-cutting, through design for print, publishing and typography, to signage and architectural lettering.
ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale) is the premier worldwide organisation dedicated to type and typography. Founded in 1957, ATypI provides the structure for communication, information and action amongst the international type community.
The Society was founded in 1957, taking its name from William Caxton's journeyman, Wynkyn de Worde. Its members provide the Society with a wide spectrum of people dedicated to excellence in all aspects of printing and the various stages of its creation, production, finishing and dissemination. Since its foundation the Society has looked beyond the ever-changing techniques of the world of printing to the proliferating spheres of communication.
Eiichi Kono, EJF Board member, has designed Meiryo, a Japanese ClearType font for the Microsoft Corporation in collaboration with Matthew Carter and C&G in Japan. Details here
